Saint Francis to host 11th annual Sheetz Sports4Kids Day

The Athletics Department will host its 11th annual Sheetz Sports4Kids Day on Sunday, April 2, at the Maurice Stokes Athletics Center.

“The event was first held in the memory of Alicia Richardson, a member of the Saint Francis women’s volleyball team, who passed away in 2007,” said John Krimmel, associate director of athletics for student-athlete and leadership development.

The event is open to children in pre-kindergarten to sixth grade. The event is free and participants receive a T-shirt, poster, pizza and prizes.

“The kids will have the opportunity to play and learn from members of Red Flash teams by going in specific sports stations, “said Krimmel.” Every Saint Francis team will host their sports station and instruct the kids for their activity.”

Track and field team member Taylor Thurnherr participated in last year’s Sports4Kids Day.

“The goal is for the kids to enjoy the fun-packed activities while learning about the valuable lessons that sports can provide in their lives,” said Thurnherr.

“I say it was one of the best experiences I’ve had with kids.”
