A Community Health Fair was held in JFK Lounge on Oct. 10.

The event’s purpose was to educate the campus community on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and to offer tips toward living a healthier life.

SFU’s Public Health, Physician Assistant, Exercise Physiology, Nursing and Occupational Therapy departments all participated in the event.

Carrolltown Family Vision, Altoona’s Lemme Ophthalmology Associates, Johnstown’s Pre-Medical Clinic and UPMC-Altoona’s Resident Clinic were also on hand for the fair.

SFU students Austin Potts and William Myers organized the event.

“Bill and I had the idea when we had to do a project for a class,” said Potts. “At the time, this kind of event was too big to take on for that project, so we decided to do this as field experience for Public Health.”

Trina Thompson, an assistant professor of public health at SFU, advised Potts and Myers in the planning of the event.
