Chynna Bozeman was promoted from assistant coach to head coach of the Red Flash women’s basketball program in May.
She replaces Keila Whittington, who resigned at the end of last season after leading the program for six years (2019-25).
Bozeman joined the program last season as an assistant coach. SFU posted an 11-19 record in 2024-25, including a 9-7 mark in the Northeast Conference. The team hosted an NEC playoff game last March for the first time since the 2019-20 season.
Before coming to SFU, Bozeman served as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Morehead State. A member of Morehead State’s Athletics Hall of Fame, Bozeman was named the Ohio Valley Conference’s Player-of-the-Year in 2010.
She ranks fourth all-time in NCAA women’s basketball history with 121 three-pointers in a single season (2009-10). Bozeman is Morehead State’s all-time leading scorer (2,170 points).
The new Red Flash head coach spent 12 years as a player development coach, where she worked and developed training programs for Division I student-athletes.
“I’m honored and beyond excited to be named women’s basketball head coach at Saint Francis,” said Bozeman.
“I’m eager to get to work, build strong relationships, and recruit high-character student-athletes who will proudly represent Saint Francis.”
The Red Flash women’s basketball program will look to become the first team in league history to reach 400 wins in NEC play. The team’s NEC win total currently sits at 396.
Saint Francis opens the 2025-26 season at Duquesne on Nov. 3.
