My name is Cole Weiland. I am a sophomore Chemistry major with a concentration in Pre-Medicine. I am a member of the Honors Program and currently serve as a Resident Assistant in Amici Hall. I am an active member of both the marching and pep bands.
When I first decided to attend Saint Francis, I never imagined I would one day have the privilege of serving as your Student Government Association President.
Over my time here, I’ve grown to understand the sense of community that makes us who we are. When one of us falls down, there is always someone else to pick them up. This selfless nature inspired me to join SGA – I wanted to be someone who makes our campus better.
My involvement in SGA began as a Freshman Fellow, when I – along with the other fellows – planned and directed a community mental health event centered around hot chocolate and sidewalk chalk.
After my term as a Class Representative ended, I ran for Chief Senator of Residence Life. As the Chief Senator, I worked to help establish a Food Pantry on campus to help students in need. After reflecting on my time serving in our SGA, I decided to run for the presidency. I was elected last November.
Since my election, the SGA and our Executive Board have been hard at work making campus improvements. Some of our current initiatives involve continued work on establishing a campus food pantry to support students facing food insecurity; partially sponsoring a future CPR class; and addressing campus safety concerns, such as reviewing fire alarms in the residence halls.
Beyond these initiatives, my focus remains on enhancing student resources, strengthening campus involvement, and advocating for improvements that directly impact student life.
SGA exists to represent you. I encourage every student to try to attend at least one Senate meeting each semester. We are always looking for ways to improve the student experience here on campus, and that starts with you.
Please reach out to anyone on Senate regarding your concerns or possible improvement ideas and we will do our best to help. Your voice matters. Together, we can make changes.
I look forward to serving you this year and doing my best to make an impact on our campus!
