The Saint Francis Library is more than just a study space – it’s a sanctuary for book lovers. To celebrate National Library Lover’s Month (February), we asked four students
about their favorite books.
Sophomore Sarah Miller said that “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” by J.K.
Rowling is her top pick. “It’s the first book that made me fall in love with reading,” she said.
“I’ve read it so many times, but it never gets old. The magic, the adventure – it’s just
amazing.”
Junior Michael Carter enjoys “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins. “I love how the
book keeps you on the edge of your seat,” he said. “Katniss is such a strong character, and the
whole story makes you think about society and survival.”
For senior Emma Johnson, “The Fault in Our Stars” by John Green is her favorite. “The
emotions in this book hit so hard,” she said. “It’s sad, but also really beautiful. It makes
you appreciate life and the people in it.”
Freshman Alex Davis is a fan of “Wonder” by R.J. Palacio. “It’s such a heartwarming story,”
he said. “It shows how kindness and empathy can change someone’s life. It really made me
think about how I treat others.”
The students also noted how much they enjoy spending time in the SFU Library.
“I love coming here to read,” Miller said. “It’s peaceful and I can dive into a book without
distractions.”
Johnson agrees.
“The library is my go-to place when I want to focus on reading. It’s quiet and I can lose myself in a book for hours,” she said.
“I’m into graphic novels and the library has a great selection,” said Carter.
Davis likes that the library is always there when he needs it.
“I can grab a book, take a break from schoolwork and just relax. It’s nice to have that option,” he said.
