The University’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year. The SBDC was founded at Saint Francis in 1979.
Jeff Boldizar, who began working at the SBDC in 1985, serves as the center’s executive director.
“We help clients think through the whole process of starting a successful business,”
said Boldizar.
The SBDC’s mission is to help businesses in the Southern Alleghenies launch, grow and prosper. It provides assistance to business owners across Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Fulton, Huntington and Somerset counties.
“My favorite part of this job is that we get to work with a wide variety of small businesses,” said Terrence Anderson, an SBDC consultant.
“Everything from retail, wholesale and manufacturing to service businesses, brick-and-mortar stores and online stores.”
The SBDC fulfills the mission of the University by helping small businesses create and sustain employment. It works to improve existing businesses and it fosters economic development across the region.
