The SFU ESports Team hosted its annual “Extra Life 2024” 12-hour webstream on April 6 from 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. This fundraiser benefits the Children’s Miracle Network.
Children’s Miracle Network raises money annually for 170 member hospitals. It funds millions of treatments that are provided to children across the United States and Canada.
“It is truly an honor to be a part of this event,” said Carmen Lefoer, a member of SFU’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Red team.
“It is a unique and fun way to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network and it has a very positive impact on our community.”
Many members of SFU’s ESports teams worked to generate awareness of the fundraiser in advance of last Saturday’s event. They also collected donations before the webstream.
“This is my second time participating in the event,” said Dan O’Hara, captain of the Rocket League Red Team. “I had so much fun last year and I wanted to help make it even better.
“Participating in ‘Extra Life’ is a fun way to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network,” said O’Hara. “We get to show future Saint Francis students what we love doing and how we help pay it forward.”
Every member of the Red Flash ESports teams helped participated in last weekend’s event in one way or another.
Lefoer and O’Hara served as hosts/commentators during last weekend’s event.
