Eighteen students, two faculty members in the SSOB and one former faculty member from the School made the trip across the pond to visit London over spring break.
The students who made the trip are all enrolled in a three-credit course on the role of Great Britain and the European Union in the global economy.
Prior to visiting London earlier this month, the students learned and wrote about British culture and the country’s economy, as well as London’s prominence in finance and commerce.
“Overall, I thought the trip to London did a nice job of including a mix of both educational activities and fun, cultural activities,” said junior Marketing major Kayley Sossong.
After arriving in London, the students were officially welcomed to the city by officials at the Anglo-America Center. They were then given a presentation on safety protocols in London.
During the 10-day trip, the group toured major British landmarks such as the Tower of London and Windsor Castle.
They also toured London’s financial district, attended a lecture at the Lloyd’s of London Insurance Exchange, and visited the Bank of England.
“As much as I enjoyed seeing the West End production of Mamma Mia,” said Sossong, “I would have to say that visiting Harrod’s Department Store was my favorite part of the trip.”
During their free time, students had the opportunity to attend soccer matches, visit museums, ride the London Eye, attend theatre productions, and explore the city’s shopping centers.
“I would recommend this trip to anyone who is interested in or enjoys traveling,” said sophomore Marketing major Marlana Krug.
“For as much as you get to see and experience on this trip, it really is an amazing opportunity that comes at a reasonable price.”
