Troubadour Editor-in-Chief Madison Perry recently conducted a question-and-answer session with Student Government Association President Paige Debias.
Q: What are your goals as president?
A: My goals as president include strengthening the Senate-student relationship and improving overall communication throughout campus, as well as helping students utilize opportunities outside of the classroom to do what they love and spread their passions to better impact their communities.
Q: What is a problem that you have seen on campus and want to address?
A: The most recent problems that I have seen are accessibility and safety. Many different ideas are currently being discussed to address these areas.
Q: Is there anything within SGA that you want to change?
A: The main changes that SGA is making are more utilization of committees and better communication with the student body.
Q: What is something that you want students to know about SGA?
A: SGA members are your fellow classmates. We are here for you. Come to us about anything on campus!
Q: Can you share an example of an issue that SGA is currently addressing?
A: SGA is working on safety and communication. We are trying to work more closely with staff to better understand initiatives throughout campus.
Q: What does SGA have planned for the future?
A: SGA plans to work more closely with students this term to not only improve their experiences, but also to influence students to express their passions.
Q: Can you share an example of a recent SGA accomplishment?
A: SGA is currently working on safety initiatives throughout campus and working to improve accessibility. We are also currently working on various advertising approaches to help spread SGA’s presence throughout campus, including Instagram and QR codes.
