The Apple Leadership Team (ALT) will be hosting a READY pong tournament on Friday, Nov. 17, at 8 p.m. at the Stokes Center. All proceeds from the event will benefit Sideline Cancer and SFU student Evan Sanders.
The 10th annual tournament, previously known as Gatorade Pong, will highlight the partnership that SFU Athletics recently entered into with READY Nutrition. The event will also support Sideline Cancer, an initiative focused on raising money for pancreatic cancer research, as well as aid Sanders, who is currently battling leukemia.
As a part of ALT’s “Late Night Alternatives,” the event requires a $10 entry fee per team of two. The top three teams will win trophies and the event will include pizza and raffle prizes. Students can also earn Frankie Cup points by adding a faculty or staff member to their team.
Student-Athlete Development and Academic Services Graduate Assistant Sean Smolyn is excited that the proceeds from the event will be donated to Sideline Cancer and Sanders.
“Sideline Cancer is a great organization, and we are so happy that all of the proceeds from the night will be going to a good cause,” said Smolyn. “Sideline Cancer is an organization that is very close with SFU, so we are all happy to be supporting them.”
ALT member Brooke Alexander is looking forward to helping host the event.
“I am excited about the READY Pong event because it is always such a great time,” said Alexander. “The pong tournament is a great environment and serves as an amazing fundraiser.”
