The University celebrated its 13th annual Reaching Every Door (RED) Day on Oct. 3. This day of service saw SFU students, faculty, staff and various campus organizations join forces to give back to the local community.
Volunteers fanned out across Loretto, Cresson, Lilly and Ebensburg, where they undertook various projects.
Throughout the years since RED Day was introduced, SFU students have given their time to volunteering at local nursing homes, community churches and borough buildings, among other locations.
The services include tasks such as painting, cleaning, leaf raking, furniture moving, litter cleanup, trail maintenance and winterizing gardens.
“RED Day is about more than just helping others – it’s about uniting as a community to make a positive impact,” said junior Communications major Fanta Daffe. She is a member of the SFU women’s basketball team. Daffe’s team volunteered their services at Vale Wood Farms, a local dairy, on RED Day.
“RED Day is not just about service,” said another SFU student. “It’s about building connections and making a difference in people’s lives.
“Participating in RED Day taught me the power of collective action. Small efforts from many individuals can make a significant impact on our community.”
