The Athletics Department announced the hiring of Beth Krysiak as the 13th head coach in the softball program’s history last month.
Krysiak brings an impressive resume to Loretto. She previously coached at Columbia, where she worked primarily with the team’s pitchers. During her time at Columbia, she coached 2023 All-Ivy second-team selection Raquel Reyes and 2022 All-Ivy honorable mention selection Jordan Hill.
“Coach Krysiak brings a wealth of Division I coaching experience from a well-respected institution,” said SFU Director of Athletics James Downer.
“She has had to recruit student-athletes that not only have tremendous athletic ability, but incredible academic credentials as well.”
Before joining the coaching staff at Columbia, Krysiak spent the 2018-19 academic year building a new program at Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh. CMU won 13 games in its first season.
“Coach Krysiak will be a fantastic addition for the department and the institution,” said Downer. “She’s bringing positive energy, enthusiasm and, above all, a commitment toward providing an optimal student-athlete experience.”
Krysiak takes over a program that has won five of the last six NEC championships.
Her coaching style has already made an impact on SFU’s players.
“We have played a lot more loose at practice, and we have a lot of energy,” said sophomore outfielder Savannah Nash.
“We’re optimistic that Coach Krysiak’s leadership will continue to bring trophies back to Loretto,” said Downer.
