Shields School of Business Students Visit New York City

Students studying in the Shields School of Business visited New York City from March 10-12.

Randy Frye, Dean of the School of Business, accompanied the students on the “Spring Walking on Wall Street Trip.”

The students who made the trip are members, and in many cases leaders, of various SSOB student-led organizations.

The opportunity was a reward for SSOB students who have participated in these various organizations, which include the Accounting Club, the CEO Club, the Saint Matthew’s Investment Club, the Communications Club, the Criminal Justice Club, Enactus, etc.

The cost of the trip was just $25 per person.

“It was an amazing experience,” said Anoek Pruijmboom, a freshman Criminal Justice major from the Netherlands. “I saw so much of the city within three days.”

After arriving in New York City, the students enjoyed a dinner and live performance in Little Italy at Zia Maria.

The following day, the group visited the New York Stock Exchange, followed by an alumni meet-and-greet dinner at Rosie O’Grady’s in Times Square.

They also toured Wall Street, Battery Park, Trinity Church and the Brooklyn Bridge, as well as the September 11 Memorial.

“It was one of the best experiences of my life,” said Bente Vandeputte, a general engineering major and freshman from Belgium.

“I had never been to such a big city and it was really impressive. I am really happy that I got this experience with my friends.”
