Amplify Church to Visit Campus, Dec. 3
A group from Amplify Church in Indiana (Pennsylvania) will visit SFU on Dec. 3. The “RIOT” event will be held in JFK Auditorium, with the doors opening at 8:30 p.m. and the show starting at 9 p.m.
The event counts toward CES credit and Frankie’s Cup points.
The Indiana Church hosts events at universities around western Pennsylvania.
Organizers of Monday evening’s event at SFU are hoping for a large turnout. Those who wouldn’t typically attend a religious service are encouraged to check it out.
“I was first introduced to Amplify Church by a close friend in February of last year when I went to a Sunday service,” said SFU student Elise Dumouchelle, the principal organizer for the event. “I fell in love with the atmosphere.
“I was raised Catholic, so going to a church that looked like a concert was a big treat for me. I eventually got more involved in the church and went to RIOT for the first time last semester.”
Organizers are encouraging students to use the event as a break from end-of-semester stress.
“This will be a great time to come out to praise Jesus and unwind and de-stress with some fun live music as finals are approaching,” said co-director Collin Wurst.
“Everyone is welcome, no matter where they are in faith.”
Dumouchelle is looking forward to seeing her peers grow in their faith.
“What I am most excited about is the opportunity to bring people into a life with Christ,” she said.
“Amplify does a great job of creating a loving atmosphere for everyone.”
