Christmas Week festivities to celebrate end of semester
The Student Activities Organization is hosting a Christmas week full of activities in JFK from December 4-9 to help students relax before finals week.
On Monday, students can make tie blankets beginning at 7 p.m. in the JFK Lounge. Supplies are limited and will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
The DIY Committee is sponsoring a winter craft on Tuesday at 7 p.m.; this event is also in the JFK Lounge. Students can make a mason jar snow globe while enjoying hot chocolate served by the sisters of Gamma Sigma Sigma.
At 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, there will be a gingerbread house decorating competition in the JFK Lounge. Prizes will be given to the top three winners chosen by a panel of judges.
Social Work Club is hosting a Christmas Extravaganza on Thursday. Beginning at 8 p.m. in JFK, students can take pictures with Santa, relieve stress by hitting a piñata, and enjoy Christmas cookies. Admission is $1; there is no additional cost for any of the activities.
With the stress of finals week beginning to kick in on Friday, students can take a few minutes to relax at Campus Spa during 2 p.m. through 6 p.m. in JFK. A Christmas themed bingo will follow the event, which starts at 8 p.m. The prizes will be wrapped, so students who win will have the chance to open a Christmas gift.
To conclude the week’s events, an open mic night will take place in Frankie’s at 8 p.m. Students are encouraged to wear an ugly Christmas sweater and sing Christmas songs. There will also be a hot chocolate bar at the event.
Christmas movies will be played on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday during the events.
“This is a new event for SAO and I’m really excited to see how it turns out,” said Bailey Edwards, an SAO member who planned the entire week.
