Panel Addresses LGBTQ Issues on Campus
A Franciscan priest, faculty members and student served on an LGBTQ panel and led a discussion on this topic on March 11 in Padua Hall.
The panel discussion was part of LGBTQ Awareness Week, which included four days of events.
Approximately 20 students attended the panel discussion. Panel members included Professor of Religious Studies Rosemary Bertocci, Assistant Professor of English Roxana Cazan, Assistant Professor of Philosophy Kyle Thomsen, Director of the Dorothy Day Center the Rev. Marty Zatsick and student Abby Bowen.
The event included videos explaining a specific crime against a gay couple and another on Catholicism and homosexuality.
Handouts on the terminology within the LGBTQ community were also distributed to attendees.
Attendees at the event were participatory, and many students asked questions and offered their own opinions.
