“Dancing with the Stars” Scheduled for Oct. 23 and 30
“Dancing with the Stars” is scheduled for Oct. 23 and 30 at 8 p.m. in JFK Auditorium.
DWTS is an annual competition sponsored by the SFU Dance Club and the Student Activities Organization.
According to Dance Club president Shelby Baker, members of the Dance Club find partners who are either a student-athlete or fraternity member. Together, they perform a series of original dances.
“It is the perfect showcase for the talent we have here at the University,” said Katie Mihelcic, an emcee for the event.
Kitana Downs and Caron Robinson are the Dance Club members competing this year with partners Duncan Lundberg and Taylor Spencer.
“Dancing with the Stars is such a great opportunity to share my passion and love of dance with a partner who otherwise wouldn’t (dance),” said Robinson. “We’ve all been working hard and we can’t wait to rock the stage.”
Admission is $1 and emcees for the event will encourage audience participation. There will be an audience contest at this year’s event.
There will also be several gift card raffles on both nights.
“It has always been a popular event on campus,” said Baker. “I hope the same for this year.”
