Annual Family Weekend tradition continues

Saint Francis will open its doors to students’ families, Sept. 19-21, as plenty of parents and siblings and extended family members are expected to visit campus for the University’s annual Family Weekend.

The objective of SFU’s Family Weekend is to provide an on-campus opportunity for current students to spend quality time with their loved ones.  It also gives parents and guardians a chance to find out how their children are adjusting to life at SFU.

One of the new attractions of the 2014 Family Weekend is a scavenger hunt.  It gives visiting families the opportunity to learn a little bit more about the campus.

Other events include a sibling bonfire, an ice cream social, a family cookout hosted by SFU peer ministers, Family Weekend bingo, a magic show featuring the “mystical” Mark Miller, a tailgate sponsored by the Student Activities Organization and a “family fun center.”  A brunch with Father Malachi, the University’s president, is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Sunday.

“We expect lot of families to participate in the events and, and with the new scavenger hunt, we hope they learn interesting facts about SFU,” said physical therapy major Tereza Roros, who is co-chairing Family Weekend.  “Things that they might not have known before!”

Registration begins at noon on Friday and can also be completed online at https://my.francis.edu/sfubus/familyweekend/registerform.asp .
