The men’s volleyball team defeated nationally ranked Ohio State at home on March 12, improving its mark to a perfect 7-0 in Loretto this season.

The team won 3-1 over the Buckeyes, reeling off wins in three straight sets after dropping the first set of the match.

Josh Blair had 14 kills in the victory and Blake Liprando added 13 kills and five digs in the victory.

The win over Ohio State avenged a 3-0 loss to the Buckeyes in Columbus, Ohio, on Jan. 12 in SFU’s season-opener.

Sophomore setter Ryan Parker said that his team has demonstrated tremendous growth and development since that season-opening match at OSU more than two months ago.

“We have worked extremely hard,” said the East Northport, New York, native. “It feels good to reap some of the benefits of our hard work.”

Last weekend, the Flash dropped road matches at George Mason (March 18) and Princeton (March 19). The team is 5-8 on the road.

Head coach Mike Rumbaugh’s team opens a six-game homestand this weekend with matches against Sacred Heart and Harvard on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Friday’s match starts at 7 p.m. The game against the Crimson on Saturday begins at 4 p.m.

Six of the team’s last seven matches of the season will be played at the Stokes Center.

“Playing at home provides comfort that allows us to play loose and at peak performance,” said Peyton Blain, a sophomore libero from Harrisburg.
