SFU Freshman collects 6th NEC Rookie of the Week Award

Keith Braxton, a 6-foot-4-inch guard for the Red Flash men’s basketball team, is enjoying a great start to his college career.

On Feb. 9, Braxton recorded 12 points, four assists and seven rebounds in a loss to Wagner.  Two days later, he scored 14 points to go along with six rebounds against Northeast Conference-leading Mount St. Mary’s.

With a couple of weeks remaining in the regular season, Braxton has already captured the NEC’s Rookie of the Week award six times.

Braxton credits his teammates for much of his success. “My teammates definitely push me into seeing the things that I can do,” said the Atlantic City, N.J., native.

Red Flash associate head coach Andrew Helton has been impressed with Braxton’s contributions up to this point. “Keith is unique and he has been very effective right away,” said Helton.

Braxton currently leads the team in rebounding (8.6 rpg) and is tied for the team lead in scoring (12.8 ppg).
