The Phi Lambda Psi sorority hosted its annual Spaghetti Dinner on March 30 and the annual event was a success.

Torvian Dining Hall catered food from DelGrosso Foods and other donors, which members of the sorority served. They prepared approximately 100 pounds of spaghetti to feed dinner guests.

The event drew 133 guests, who could either dine in JFK Lounge or take their food to go. The event raised a total of $1,671. There were 35 donated raffle baskets that were chanced off at the event.

All proceeds from the dinner go to Dreams Go On, a therapeutic horseback riding camp in Hollidaysburg for children with special needs. Autism awareness is the sorority’s philanthropy.

This year’s spaghetti dinner featured live entertainment by performers from the recent “SFU’s Got Talent” event and sterno roasters were provided by Torvian. This made the preparation and serving process much easier and quicker for the sorority sisters.

Phi Lambda Psi philanthropy chair Kylie Humbertson coordinated the event.

“My job was calling businesses for donations,” Humbertson said, “picking up those donations, as well as coordinating the food, venues, tickets and promotion for the event.”

Sorority adviser Kelly Rhodes said that the event represents the best of Greek life at Saint Francis.

“I am so proud of the quality of the event that the sisters host each year, and Kylie did an outstanding job,” Rhodes said.

“The event not only supports the great work that the Dreams Go On staff does to support children and families affected by autism, but the event provides Lammie women with an opportunity to develop valuable leadership skills through the planning, organizing and marketing of the event.”

All leftover food from the event was donated to the Carmelite Monastery in Loretto.
